"Have any of you provided service for a weekend event like a home show etc? What did you charge?"{mos_sb_discuss:7}
korym: Would it behoove you to request a sponsorship opportunity instead of
charging? Might be a good way to line up subscribers. Of course, it
depends on your ROI for the event.
superdog1: Well, I would be asking how many vendors are going to be there, AND, I
would have the event manager put a little note stating that all vendors
requiring access register prior to the event. That way You would at
least know how many users they will have and base Your rate on that +
the time it takes for setup and take down etc.. I would just setup a
hotspot for any other people that want access and charge them by the
hour, 1/2 hour etc.
jkmonroe: I agree with korym. Sponsorship instead of cash. The effects long term
are there. I did this in my hometown during the Sternwheel Festival.
Provided a secure hotspot for the vendors and another hotspot for free
access.
6 months later people still remember this even though
the festival was flooded out during the 'Great September Flood'. 7 feet
of water in my basement on that one. First year living on the river
too. Dammit.
I also plan on providing the same service during
the Italian Festival this summer, which is the second largest Italian
Festival in the country. I hope to get more exposure from that one too.
Just my personal experience with a similar situation. Good luck!
