"Has anyone tried the VOIP carriers with their WISP yet?

I am using an IP phone controlled by a client on my computer, both made by my employer.

It works pretty well on off peak times, but during the heat of the day, it sounds like a real bad mobile phone.

I am wondering if anyone else is using anything else, and what luck you are having with it.

Any tips to tweak the setup would be appreciated too."{mos_sb_discuss:7}

I tried doing fax over Voip using wireless and couldnt get it to work. I just assumed it would work. It will work over VOIP, just not with wireless. I tried the different codec's for fax but no go.

I actually had to order a line from the Telco. Damn, I hated to do that. On a good note though I ought to have a dry pair going there from the data center in 4 weeks with LRE and then fax will be on the asterisk. As far as the quality of Voip over wireless as long as the jitter level is low it will be great. I have been using packet8 and Vonage for years on 5.8 backhaul and 2.4 hop.

Fax over VOIP is hit and miss wired or wireless. Voip works pretty good on 5.8 trango gear. Have been seeing issues on 900 due to ARQ--worst when the weather is bad.

2.4 really is not stable enough for Voip, But, it does work. Before I had the pop loaded down close to my house it worked flawlessly. Once I got over 15 clients on the pop I noticed problems. Its still usable but when someone decides to hammer the network all goes to hell. I keep saying Im going to put a Trango on my roof but never get around to it.
